Engineer / Missionary Wanna-Be

I’m Jamie, an engineer and hobbyist photographer born and residing in metro Detroit. I’m kind of a rare blend of creativity and precision. By day, you’ll find me engineering solutions with such finesse that even my coffee mug sits at a perfectly calculated angle on my desk. Some say I’m the only person who can make a Gantt chart look glamorous. When I'm not designing stuff for Ford Motor Company, I transform into a bohemian photographic virtuoso. Forget about posed shots; I’ve mastered the art of capturing candid moments so spontaneously that time itself gets jealous.

I started my photographic journey as a young lad after being gifted a brand spanking new Pentax ME Super, having no clue as to what an exposure triangle was or even how to load a 35mm film cartridge. Through the years, I’ve bought and sold quite an agnostic and extensive collection of cameras and lenses that could have easily outfitted a Jacques Cousteau film crew. My cameras are like Swiss Army knives - equipping me for any situation from overseas humanitarian missions to alien invasions. By marrying my passion for the outdoors with trying to be a better human being serving my fellow man I believe I’ve achieved the Full Monty of satisfaction and happiness.

In all seriousness, over the years I’ve been fortunate to have travelled the globe to areas overflowing with wealth and in contrast, to areas where a simple drink of fresh water is received as Heaven sent. At times I believe that God has revealed himself to me through my lens. Photography has been incredibly rewarding, uplifting, and very often heartbreaking. With everything I’ve seen, the good and the bad, I continue to believe that “we are all angels, it's what we do with our wings that separate us.” I am a blessed, grateful man for all I’ve been given.
