Isle Royale National Park / Lake Superior / Northern Michigan. August 2021. Sony A5100.

We came. We saw. And dammit, I forgot my belt.

My comrades and I again traveled north to the very tip-top point of the Upper Peninsula and sailed across Superior to the majestic and remote Isle Royale National Park. It was a return trip for a few of us, with our first trip being “pre-Pandemic” in 2019. Although the Island was very much on fire near and close to Rock Harbor, due to a rogue lightening strike, the park remained open much to our surprise. And, as we experienced on our first trip, it did not fail to deliver. This tranquil slice of Heaven sleeping peacefully in Superior remains our elusive yet reachable high point of hiking and escaping the grind.
